What does 'metadata-driven' mean?
Unlike traditional software where entity types are hardcoded in source code, ISO BPMS stores all object definitions, field configurations, and relationships as metadata in the database. The engine reads this metadata at runtime to generate database tables, GraphQL schemas, and UI components dynamically. This means you can create entirely new business objects without writing or deploying any code.
How does the module system work?
Modules are JSON manifest files that declare objects, fields, relations, triggers, and actions. When you install a module, the engine creates real PostgreSQL tables with typed columns, inserts field metadata, sets up foreign keys, and registers workflow nodes — all automatically. You can create custom modules or use the 9 built-in ones.
Can I extend ISO BPMS with custom fields and objects?
Yes. You can create custom objects via the Settings > Data Model page or the metadata API. Adding a field creates both the metadata record and the actual database column. Custom objects are immediately queryable via GraphQL with full CRUD, filtering, and sorting.
